SPARDHA '09 INAUGURAL
3..2..1...START
The countdown is finally over as SPARDHA 09 was formally declared open today.
The inaugural began with the garlanding of our visionary founder Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji and proceeded with the hoisting of the IT flag by our chief guest for the occasion Dr. S.K.Sharma, Dean of students, B.H.U. Presided by the honourable Director, IT Prof. S.N.Upadhyay and President Gymkhana, Dr. B.N.Rai among other diginatries,the ceremony proceeded with all the participating teams taking part in the march-past, lead by their respective captains.This was followed by the oath taking ceremony of all participants.
The meet was formally declared open by the Chief Guest in the Gymkhana ground with the release of bright balloons carrying the "SPARDHA 09" placard.
And hence starts SPARDHA 09,ALL INDIA SPORTS FESTIVAL,IT-BHU with flying colours.

Welcome All To SPARDHA'09
So the wait is finally over as we start with our grand Sports Fest tomorrow with inaugural ceremony at King's pavalion at 5 o'clock.
Hostels can already be seen crowded with outside participants , coming to this pilgrimage city of Varanasi with high hopes and passion. Around 1500 participants from 48 premier colleges would be competing against eachother during SPARDHA '09.
IT-Junta is appealed to show their hospitality in best possible way. Let us not leave any stone unturned to prove everyone that ITians are always the best in whatever they do.
We welcome all the contigents from premier engineering colleges across India to participate in SPARDHA '09.
Let us all pledge to contribute actively and make the event a grand success.

Rising Star:Pramil Jain
I was introduced to handball when I was in 8th class by one of our sports teacher who herself was an international handball player.Then I captained the whole school team in under-16 nationals. After that I was selected for Jaipur handball team which got 2nd prize at state level.I was also selected as the best handball player at school for consecutive two years.I was given the best handball player and highest goal scorer award in inter-hostel handball tournament this year.
I’m also in IT football team as a striker. In IT team my role model is Siddhart Khandalwal. He’s a superb striker .
My sincere appeal to IT Junta is to be there at grounds and make us really feel that we are playing in our home grounds. Please be there we need your support.

Happy Days:4
In the fourth part of our regular column “HAPPY DAYS” we are going to recall the glorious days in the life of Shauvik bhaiya, from Civil Dept., batch of ’07. Here are some excerpts from a telephonic interview….
About his present work and city…
I am presently working in BPCL,
About the sports he pursued…
I was mainly associated with volleyball and athletics. I was a booster in volleyball and also tried my feet in athletics.
About his major achievements in I.T. ….
Our team won Gold medal in SPARDHA and couple of Silver medals in IIT Kanpur sports fest. Also, I was selected for the university volleyball team.
About his unforgettable moments in I.T. ….
When my team won gold in SPARDHA.
Things he would like to do if given a chance to come back to I.T. ….
The first thing that I would like to do is to immediately rush to the volleyball court as I miss it very much. Also, I would love to have ‘chhola-samosa’ at L.C. and I also miss L.C. chit-chat a lot.
Is he still involved in sports.....
No, because of time constraints.
